A Royal wish for a ballerina – dancing in the Tales of Beatrix Potter!

Budding ballerina Tegan, aged 11 and from Cheltenham, was granted a once-in-a-lifetime wish to dance with the Royal Ballet by Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, the charity that grants magical wishes to children fighting life-threatening illnesses. Tegan was given a special backstage tour to meet the dancers performing the Tales of Beatrix Potter ballet, and then was invited to make an appearance in costume onstage and join the cast for the finale!

Tegan was made to feel the star of the show as everyone in the company congratulated her and showered her with gifts – signed ballet shoes, Beatrix Potter goodies and bunches of flowers to name but a few.

To refer a child for a special wish or make a donation, please contact Make-A-Wish on 01276 40 50 60 or visit www.make-a-wish.org.uk

Bring back Beatrix Potter's mice - join the appeal!

A campaign is being launched to bring back the mice to the Tailor of Gloucester’s shop in College Court. The model and motorised mice, dressed in 18th century costume - just as Beatrix Potter illustrated them in her famous children’s book, were a feature of the shop from 1979 until 2005 when the shop closed.

The shop has since been reopened by a specially created charity and is trading successfully following a public appeal and share issue taken up enthusiastically by many local people.

To support the campaign you can sponsor a whole mouse for £250, or just part of one, right down to a whisker. They plan to erect a plaque in the museum listing the names of everyone who helped recreate this wonderful set. Cheques should be made payable to ‘The Tailor Appeal’ and sent to; The House of the Tailor of Gloucester, 9 College Court, Gloucester GL1 2NJ

For more information please contact Colin Nyland on 07816 407881 or colin@gloucestercivictrust.org
